Academy Services and General Information
Players or parents with any queries about squad training issues, should discuss directly with the coach in charge of those squads. Otherwise please address your concerns in writing with Chris Steel - Academy Director or Rose Cox - Operations Manager.
Injuries
In case of any injury or physical discomfort, please discuss with your private coach first. If you are not working privately with a coach, then follow up with the coach in charge of your squad session. He will arrange with the Academy manager for your injury to be assessed by Academy Remedial Masseur, Nick McCallum, who will advise on further treatment options.
Player Reports
Short term Academy players will receive a written report at the end of their training period. Full time players will take part in Video Reports every two months. For 2009 video reports will be available at the end of February, April, June, August, October & December. Parents are welcome to discuss their child’s progress with their private coach or squad coach at any time in between reporting periods, and are encouraged to check in with coaches on a regular basis.
Tournament Schedule
Please discuss you tournament plan for 2009 with your private coach. If you don’t have a private coach, then see the coach in charge of your squad session for advice. Once your plan has been arranged, the Academy manager will ensure you receive appropriate entry forms for each event. Those players who need transportation and supervision can arrange with the Academy manager one week prior to the event.
Video Analysis
Players can receive video analysis sessions as part of their private coaching program – approximately every few months. Full-time squad session players will take part in match analysis on a regular basis, and review work may be completed during rain sessions. Players can request their tournament matches to be videotaped for events held at the Academy. For further details and costs on this, please see the Academy manager.

Child Protection Policy
Pat Cash International Tennis Academy has a commitment to the safety and wellbeing of children and the protection of children from harm.
Pat Cash ITA aims to achieve this by promoting the principles and responsibilities of child protection among all paid, voluntary, permanent or casual staff and administrators, coaches involved in Academy related activities.
Pat Cash ITA child protection policy consists of the following:
- A Code of Conduct
- Recruitment, training and management procedures for staff
- Procedures for handling incidents, including reporting and notification
- A plan for staff who do not comply with the policy
- Information sheets available at Reception or posted on notice areas
- Academy Staff registers
- Academy Survey / Complaint Forms available at reception
- Incident reporting carried out upon notification of any breach of the policy.
Our Academy’s child and youth risk management strategy
Creating safe and supportive service environments for children and young people is everyone’s business. Our Academy is committed to providing the highest standard of service to children and young people and ensuring they are kept safe from harm.
In order to create a safe and supportive service environment for children and young people organisation’s must initiate and maintain ongoing planning and commitment.
In a safe and supportive environment, services and activities are provided so children and young people:
· feel safe and protected from harm;
· help plan activities and make decisions;
· are consulted and respected; and
· have their best interests considered and upheld.
In accordance with the Commission for Children and Young People and Child Guardian Act 2000, (enter organisation name here) is required to have a written child and youth risk management strategy to protect the children and young people in our organisation from harm. The strategy will help ensure our organisation is a safe and supportive service environment for children and young people, by identifying and minimising risks. Screening employees and volunteers through the blue card system is part of the strategy.
The child and youth risk management strategy addresses the following elements:
· a statement of commitment;
· a code of conduct for interacting with children and young people;
· procedures for recruiting, selecting, training and managing paid employees and volunteers;
· policies and procedures for handling disclosures or suspicions of harm, including reporting guidelines;
· a plan for managing breaches of the child and youth risk management strategy;
· policies and procedures for implementing and reviewing the child and youth risk management strategy and maintaining an employee register for blue cards;
· risk management plans for high-risk activities and special events; and
· strategies for communication and support.
As a parent/carer, it is important for you to understand the policies and procedures that form the child and youth risk management strategy. A copy of the strategy is attached for your information and comment.
Code of Conduct
Pat Cash International Tennis Academy will…
- treat children with respect regardless of race, sex, religion, social origin, birth or other status.
- not use behaviour towards children that is inappropriate, harassing, abusive, sexually provocative, demeaning or culturally inappropriate.
- use any computers, mobile phones, or video and digital cameras appropriately, and never to exploit or harass children.
- immediately report concerns or allegations of child abuse to the Operations Manager or Academy Director or if a criminal offence, to the QLD Police.
