Men's Night & Swingin' Singles - regular social tennis !
Men's Night When : every Wednesday 7pm-9pm Cost : $10 What : Doubles only, and it's a pretty good standard of tennis. (yes we also have some ladies who come along!)
Swingin' Singles (new event) When : first Monday of every month 7pm-9pm Cost : $15 What : Singles only - limited to the first 26 players who sign up
The first Monday night of every month is now eagerly anticipated by those who love to play singles. The inaugural Monday, on May 7th had a very strong field of 22 players who came, despite some impending weather problems. After a 15 minute squeeqy most courts were ready, and the battles went on. Unfortunately the battles were cut short by torrential rain coming down 15 minutes later!
The format is 3 matches, each one a total of 10 games. You will generally play 3 people of a similar standard. We had all levels there, big hitting wide serving Justin, undefeatable Joel Braund (now on a 9 consecutive tournament and 53 match winning streak), Rip 'em down the line Ross Taylor all looking to win the A division. Ex Newcombe/Roach hitting partner Bill-4aces Morten, and coach Heinrik all played some close games until rain stopped play. There were some close match ups, and everyone enjoyed their short time on court.
Please call Mark to sign up on 0416 016 854 .

New Asian Base for Academy - 2010
The Academy is excited to announce the up coming development of a new Asian base on the beautiful Thai island of Koh Samui. In partnership with renowned resort developer, Gledhill, the Academy will form an integral part of the Himmapan Beach Samui Resort and Spa www.himmapanbeachsamui.com scheduled to open in 2010. It's not only a place that tennis lovers will visit, but also a good investment opportunity. The resort itself has been designed to operate as a “buy-to-let” type hotel development. The concept is simple – if you buy a suite/villa, it would be let out by the Resort management and you share the room revenues with hotel/resort management. The higher the occupancy the higher your returns. The developer expects final net rental returns in the region of up to 14% and is prepared to back this up with a guaranteed return of 8% on your investment for the first two years. Not only is Himmapan a great investment, but it's also a great holiday destination – and all suite/villa owners also enjoy 28 days per year free accommodation and a VIP activities package.
The key to this type of investment is ensuring that hotel/resort occupancy will be high. The strategy for this is simple: A fantastic beach location with the finest 5 star facilities in Thailand including : an amazing beach club, 13 swimming pools, state of the art health and fitness studios, competition wave pool to host X-games competitions, cinema, bowling alley, night club, 11 signature restaurants and of course the Pat Cash Tennis Academy and Racquets Club. The Academy itself will offer extensive tennis programs all year round and comprise six outdoor courts, two covered courts and a stadium court which also doubles as a concert venue.
For those of you looking for a second home to use on a more semi-permanent basis, the developer is also releasing Cool Blue Samui (http://www.coolbluesamui.com/renderings.html) which is nearby to Himmapan Resort, and offers owners perpetual membership at the Himmapan Resort Club.
The developer aims to make Himmapan one of the finest destinations in Asia and one of the best property investments available. Of course the opening is still some way off, but it's certainly something to look forward to. Anyway, check out the resort's web site at www.himmapanbeachsamui.com and start planning your tennis break for 2010.
