Resort Resident Peter Senior Wins The Australian PGA

Peter Senior has taken out the Australian PGA Championship with a one-shot win over Rod Pampling at the Hyatt Regency Coolum.

Starting the day with a five-shot lead, Senior carded a final round of 73 to finish on 17 under.

Pampling fired his third-consecutive 69 to put pressure on the veteran Queenslander, but Senior held on for the win.

The victory is the 44-year-old’s first since the 1997 Canon Challenge.

Craig Parry finished third on 15 under, while Scott Laycock was a further shot back in outright fourth.

Laycock had the equal-best round of the day with a five-under 67 to race up the leaderboard.

The top internationals were American pair Chip Beck and Ryan Palmer at seven under while Greg Norman closed the tournament with a 75 to finish in a tie for 20th at minus six.
