Resort Resident Peter Senior Wins The Australian PGA
Peter Senior has taken out the Australian PGA Championship
with a one-shot win over Rod Pampling at the Hyatt Regency
Coolum.
Starting the day with a five-shot lead, Senior carded a
final round of 73 to finish on 17 under.
Pampling fired his third-consecutive 69 to put pressure
on the veteran Queenslander, but Senior held on for the
win.
The victory is the 44-year-olds first since the 1997
Canon Challenge.
Craig Parry finished third on 15 under, while Scott Laycock
was a further shot back in outright fourth.
Laycock had the equal-best round of the day with a five-under
67 to race up the leaderboard.
The top internationals were American pair Chip Beck and
Ryan Palmer at seven under while Greg Norman closed the
tournament with a 75 to finish in a tie for 20th at minus
six.
