Hope Island Residential Resort is well on the way to becoming
the very best residential resort community in Australia
and the exciting new era we have entered into started
when highly successful Australian property developer Lang
Walker purchased the resort late in 2000.
Mr Walker has a long and proud history of property development
throughout Australia and internationally and he currently has
a range of quality developments underway, and is expected to
deliver projects in excess of $2 billion along the eastern seaboard
within the next 5 years.
These projects all have one thing in common, they are
designed to provide the very best lifestyle possible.
Mr Walker acquired the 350 hectare Hope Island resort
in its entirety including the highly rated 'Links' golf
course, the clubhouse, all remaining undeveloped lands
and the existing partly-developed packaged house/land
precincts.
In what he describes as 'the start of an exciting and
prosperous era' for the Hope Island development and its
residents, we are now proceeding with plans for a diverse
range of housing and land products priced from $200,000
to $1 million and above and also a range of major infrastructure
projects including:
- the marina
- an international hotel
- golf course frontage apartments and courtyard homes
- course frontage manor homes
- waterfront villas
- new waterfront land releases
- the lifestyle resort for the over-55s.
The resort's long awaited shopping centre is finished and a
$5 million programme of completing buildings, upgrading roads,
landscaping and completing the resort's new entrance statement
has been finalised. The Boardwalk Tavern has opened on the southern
end of the marina, and together with the new Boardwalk Commercial
building, the waterfront is now fulfilled in all its splendour.
Mr Walker says Hope Island Resort, with its Integrated Tourism
Resort status and existing $220 million in infrastructure
put in place by the original Japanese developer, Shinko Australia,
has the potential to be one of the world's best residential
resort communities.
"There is an enthusiastic nucleus of approximately 1100
permanent residents living at Hope Island and I want to see
that expand to the stage where the permanent resident community
exceeds 4000 people," he said.
"That will give Hope Island a real heart, and we have
the plan, the management expertise and financial resources
to make it happen. I am determined that over the next few
years Hope Island Resort will be an incredible success."
In re-evaluating the property and its product mix, Mr Walker
says the goal has been to ensure it is attractive to a diverse
range of potential buyers. "We have achieved this through
our mix of housing options and services," he said. "We
wanted everything to remain of a very upmarket standard, and
at the same time introduce more variety. Products that appeal
to people at all sorts of levels and stages of life. "By
that I mean that you can still have a $2 million home on 1000sqm
of waterfront and a private pontoon if you want, but if you
prefer you can also scale down to an apartment or villa and
still have your boat in the marina and golf cart access to the
clubhouse, shopping village, Boardwalk Tavern and tennis centre."
Central to the new Hope Island Resort's appeal, according
to Mr Walker, is its strategic location only 40 minutes from
the centre of Brisbane via the new Pacific Motorway - closer
than many Brisbane suburbs - while still only 20 minutes to
surf beaches and the heart of the Gold Coast.
The lifestyle changes that are currently happening mean that
4.9 million Australians will pass through the 50-65 age bracket
over the next 10 years.
"For these people, community is the most important thing.
They want to be close to friends, theme parks for the grandkids,
beaches, they want the boating, the golf, the restaurants,
the shops - they want to live in a community that's just got
a great feel."
"Hope Island Resort fits right into all that, which is
a big part of why I bought it."
You can be part of the exciting plans which lay ahead for
Hope Island and reap both the lifestyle and investment benefits.
